Border Control Post training

The Vet Gateway is changing - find out more here

Defra and the Food Standards Agency provide two update training days per calendar year for all Official Veterinary Surgeons and Official Fish Inspectors responsible for carrying out veterinary checks at product border inspection posts. APHA is responsible for organising the training.

Portal staff are reminded that the BCP manual now requires that update training days should be attended at least once in two years. Portal staff will be provided with a certificate of attendance and a copy of the certificate should be held at the BCP as part of training records.

We welcome suggestions for inclusion in the course. Please forward any suggestions for topics to cover or any particular items that you would like to discuss to the Specialist Service Centre – Imports team (details below).

Presentations - BCP training day for portal staff

These presentations may be used for cascade training within the border control post.

The presentations on this website are for internal training courses only and should not be used as a source of information to determine import conditions. Presentations are often based on draft legislation and can therefore not be relied on for accuracy several months later.

Previous training presentations are available on the archived version of the AHVLA website on the National Archive website.
