Border Control Post (BCP) Manual

The Vet Gateway is changing - find out more here. This content will be removed once the website is closed. Next steps for the BCP Manual are currently in discussion with the relevant policy leads in Animal and Plant Health and Welfare (APHW).

The Border Control Post (BCP) Manual provides guidance on checks on products of animal origin from third countries. It covers EU and national rules applicable at Border Control Posts.

This is the latest version of the BCP Manual which has been updated with changes to account for BTOM processes and should be used in place of v18 (2017).

The manual is intended as a guide only and specific provisions should be checked in the relevant legislation, which can be found in the Compendium of Veterinary Checks. It may be distributed in part or as a whole to persons who would benefit from its content.

Official Veterinary Surgeons (OVS) information notes will notify Border Control Posts (BCPs) of major changes in guidance and instructions.

Any OVS notes issued after the date of issue take precedence over this manual.
