Changes to contagious equine metritis culture (export testing) at APHA

Following a thorough review of APHA’s testing services, from 23 October 2017 contagious equine metritis culture (export testing) will be transferred from APHA Bury St Edmunds to APHA Penrith.

The restructuring of laboratory testing will improve APHA’s ability to support international trade, respond to animal disease outbreaks and detect and investigate new and re-emerging threats to animal health.

Samples that require testing from the 23 October 2017 must be delivered to:

APHA Penrith
Merrythought
Calthwaite
Penrith
Cumbria
CA11 9RR
Tel: 01768 885295

Submissions received prior to that date will continue to be processed and reported by APHA Bury St Edmunds.

To aid the transition to a new testing location Bury St Edmunds will continue to support the testing at Penrith until the 20 November 2017 after which no submissions will be processed at Bury St Edmunds.

An updated submission form will be available on the APHA Vet Gateway from 20 October 2017.

See the guidance on GOV.UK for further information about contagious equine metritis.
