Update on TB testing and procurement

The joint statement issued by AHVLA, BVA and BCVA, following a recent meeting between the three organisations, acknowledges that future policy requirements for procurement of TB testing remain unclear. Administrations in England, Wales and Scotland are considering their positions to establish what solutions best meet their respective needs.

As requirements may point to different solutions, AHVLA is not currently progressing the detail of any commercial contract for tuberculin testing, although tendering for the work is still one delivery option under consideration.

Regardless of the commercial aspects, it is clear that quality assurance is vitally important and AHVLA continues to focus on the development of a robust quality assurance scheme for implementation across Great Britain. This will include increasing the number of checks on individual OVs and field audit of tests.

Feedback from the recent quality assurance workshop is helping shape the way forward.
