Withdrawal of VeBus and continuing rollout of Sam to OV practices

From 1 April 2013 access to the AHVLA’s Veterinary e-Business System (VeBus) will be withdrawn. This means practices using VeBus will no longer be able to use the system to view work, submit TB test results or view historical information.

Since July 2012, and in readiness for the withdrawal of VeBus, AHVLA has been rolling out access to the new Sam system to practices on a phased basis. Over half the practices registered to use Sam are now able to use the system to retrieve work instructions and submit their TB test results. Other benefits for practices using Sam include: -

  1. ‘live’ notification of tests, meaning all work instructions are received immediately and are up to date
  2. details of an animal’s previous test date and/or result where appropriate
  3. a significant reduction in data entry where there is no reaction to a skin test
  4. reduced postal and administrative costs through the electronic submission of test results

If your practice has registered to use Sam but is not yet using it, you should be contacted by AHVLA shortly to make arrangements for you to start using the system.

For queries about using Sam or the initial registration process please contact the Sam support desk on 0870 242 4996 or email ahvlasupport@uk.ibm.com

Practices that have not registered to use Sam can find further information about the system here.

To register to use Sam, please contact the OV Appointments Team on 01905 768725 or email ovteam@ahvla.gsi.gov.uk.
