Sample Type
Freeze dried faeces in glass vial. Faeces are pooled samples. Panel will consist of both positive and negative samples. Freeze dried samples should be re-suspended in 2 mL sterile dH2O.

Subcontracting
Various aspects of the Proficiency testing schemes may at times be subcontracted. When this occurs it is placed with a competent subcontractor and the QA Unit is responsible to the scheme participants for the subcontractors work.

Due to the extensive incubation period required for some test methods the timescales by when to report results is 154 days from issue.
PT0154 Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (Johnes) – PCR is a similar scheme with a shorter timescale of 21 days for reporting results applicable for laboratories testing by PCR.
