Suitable testing methods
Rapid Slide Agglutination Test / ELISA
If initial RSAT result is positive, heat serum at 56oC for 30 minutes and retest.
If positive after heating serum, make dilutions from 1/5 to 1/40 using a new pipette/tip at each stage and retest. Please record results for final dilution at which a positive result is obtained.
Confirmatory testing may be performed at participant's discretion
Reporting format
+ve or -ve and final dilution at which the sample is positive should be noted.
Authorised reports are published electronically. These show intended results and results from all participants.

Non-infectious substance. UK - Normal post. Overseas - courier. Courier delivery will incur additional costs. Please contact the QA unit for details. Where applicable, pack with other Mycoplasma PT schemes.

Subcontracting
Various aspects of the Proficiency testing schemes may at times be subcontracted. When this occurs it is placed with a competent subcontractor and the Quality Assurance Unit is responsible to the scheme participants for the subcontractors work.
